Incuriosito, mi sono messo alla ricerca di cosa volesse significare la sigla "PMR 446" e ho scoperto che il servizio "Private Mobile Radio 446" nasce per riservare delle frequenze di uso generico ai cittadini (europei). A differenza delle frequenze radioamatoriali, qui non c'è alcun canone da pagare. La portata dichiarata è di 5Km.
